MY PASSION IS HELPING OTHERS
Greetings I'm Dr. Rhonda
I was born to be "A Jegna" and my life's journey is to grow into that purpose. In African culture, a Jegna is a title of distinction... a strong and courageous hero, warrior, soldier, a protector of our culture, land, people, and elders.
A native of Flint, Michigan I grew up with strong communal, familial, and spiritual values. While an introvert at heart, I couldn't help but learn how important our relationships are to creating our personal life tapestry. Weaving everything together... Every thought, experience, feeling, lesson, decision, trial, celebration... This is all the rich fabric of life. I have had my share of disappointments in life, but I learned early, how important it is to embrace the fact that "life is not happening to you" it's just happening, and you have to continuously define who you are and how you want to show up. Recently, a friend whose husband of over 30 years suddenly died, said something profound ... "I've got to regroup, I can't spend the rest of my life grieving... I choose to live" And So It Is!
My passion in life is simple
I am a jegna to young and seasoned professionals who truly want to give birth to the best version of themselves. Guiding them along life's sometimes challenging path is not just about academic support; it's about fostering a positive growth-oriented mindset. I believe the right mindset can make all the difference in overcoming the obstacles that come with pursuing a doctoral degree and the life that follows such an achievement.
THINGS THAT MAKE MY
Heart Smile
Seeing one of my amazing sons walk into a room electrifies my heart!
Being in Africa, always feels like home to me... there is no other place I feel more connected to who I am
My students help me perfect "Jegnaing"... Transfering cultural values and ethics to future generations of helping professionals, is priceless
There is nothing like being in the presence of God. I Am Forever a Jesus Girl... and my religion doesn't limit my spiritual journey or relatiosnhips with others... I'm constantly connecting with God, seeking His guidance, feeling His presence in everthing I do
